My life is changed forever! I'm literally hyperventilating with excitement right now!!!! Aaaa! Why has no one ever told me how much fun it is to be a yard sale hopper! It's super duper incredible and I can't wait to share the deals I've gotten in the last 3-4 weeks! I feel like I'm cheating the system! I feel like I'm walking on air! I feel like I just went to Disneyland! No but for reals.
A few weeks ago, my good friend invited me to go yard sale hopping with her. I was a little hesitant because A) I Don't NEED anything. B) My house is to small to fit anything else in it. C) I'm a minimalist D) I'd rather just not spend ANY money. WRONG! All of those thought processes are WRONG. I'm telling you, the last few weeks have changed my life and I'm not kidding.
You HAVE to have a certain way of living when you shop at yard sales. When you want something, but can't justify paying full price for it, you think "hmm, could I maybe find that at a yard sale?" then you put it on your list of possible things to look for. For example: My carpet in my front room was driving me crazy. I wanted to get a cute rug to cover it up, but rugs cost anywhere from $100-200. Soooo I thought, naaaa, I don't need a rug. THEN....a few weeks ago.....BAM found this baby at a yard sale for $5. No JOKE. It makes the room pop, it's dang cute, and it was 5 buckaroos! For REALSSSSSS people!!!

So I've been redecorating....and if I were my mom, I'd go out and buy a bunch of decorations....$50 here for a clock, $100 there for a picture, etc...... Guess what I found. 2 clocks and a cute big metal red board (that I can put magnets on if I want) that all go with my decor...plus I've been looking for clocks....I got all three of these items for $10. 10!!!!

Kid STUFF is the BOMB to get at yard sales!!!! I used to be sooo depressed when my kids needed new shoes because the cheapest ones are $15 retail, and $4 for crappy ones at the DI or Kid to Kid. Dumb Dumb Dumb. They grow out of them so fast and they destroy them. Last week I went to this amazing yard sale that was fill a grocery bag for $5. I got a pair of amazing jeans for me, 3 pairs of kid shoes, 2 hats, a cute shirt for me, a nice church shirt for Asher and some jeans for Chloe. That's 9 items for $5....these were quality items too folks! Today I got these 3 pairs of kid shoes for $3.

Those boy shoes are Hush Puppy brand and I looked it up and they are $50 retail. Yeah, I got 98% off.

Most kid clothing is $1 per item...but sometimes you get lucky and they are selling stuff 2 for a dollar, or even cheaper sometimes! This is the only way to buy kids clothes! There is some seriously cute stuff out there! I only buy the lightly used cute stuff...it's not junk people. This is stuff I would've stopped at Target at and left with a pit in my stomach because I spent $30 on 2 pairs of shoes. I officially love yard saling.
So I got this IKEA table and chairs for $20. At first I wasn't going to get it because it was "too expensive". But my mom desperately needs somewhere for the kids to sit while we are eating Sunday dinner. When I got home I wasn't sure if she'd like it. I was planning to maybe give it to her for Christmas, but I have a different plan now. I got home and found out that the whole thing is worth at least $120 new probably more! I then found some sets like it on KSL for upwards of $75. If my mom doesn't want it, I'm going to turn around and sell it for $50. If I sell it for $50, I just made a profit on everything I bought today which means I pretty much got stuff for FREE! Can you see why I'm so excited? I thought I hated shopping all of these years....I just hate retail shopping....I LOVE yard sale shopping! Here are the table and chairs:

They are pretty much like NEW! For reals! Oh, and did I mention I'm almost done Christmas shopping for my kids? I got a minnie mouse outfit for Chloe for $3 that is like new. I also got her 5 barbies, a car, some other little toys, and some books. I got Asher a huge car race track that is like new ($2), some books, and some of those marble building things. I'm almost done with my kids' Christmas shopping and I've spent $12 total. Can you say budget friendly?
There are a few secrets to yard saling. You have to go between 7am-10am to get the good stuff. You have to hit 10-15 sales to find the gems. You have to move quick so you can hit different places bam bam bam. It's also soooo much more fun with a friend! Leave the kids at home with the husband and go bargain hunting with a girlfriend! It's amazing! I feel rejuvenated for the week.

 Peace,
Angela
