At 4 weeks after the C-section I am feeling great! Tiny bit of soreness, but nothing serious. My Dr. says I can start running again...woot woot...I'm not sure I'll feel up to it for another 2 weeks or so, but I'll slowly get back into it by walking and doing the elliptical first. I'm excited to get back into shape....my tummy flab is starting to drive me crazy ;) So, what we've done so far......
My husband and I have started eating A LOT healthier lately. I've always wanted to make healthy eating a lifestyle, but I believe it is finally happening. Our cupboards are starting to change. There used to be ramen, pretzels, chewy bars, and goldfish. Now you'll see wheat noodles, Lara bars, and some sort of healthy cracker with not very many ingredients. We have decided to cut out white flour and white sugar from our diet...but we are allowed one serving of white flour and one serving of white sugar per week. For example, one white hamburger bun at a celebration, or one piece of cake at a birthday. We decided that in order to enjoy life and stay sane, it is important to be able to allow those things once a week :) It's been fun this week learning new things to cook and making sure we are fed healthy things.
KIDS: The first awesome thing we did was change our kids eating habits. We make sure they have a fruit, veggie, and protein at every meal before they can have anything else. Here is the chart my awesome husband made for them so they can understand what their options are. They need to have the "green light" foods before they can have the yellow and red light foods. It's definitely motivated them to eat more veggies.
I started making recipes from this AMAZING blog. It has 100 recipes with REAL food. It's awesome, because she uses normal things like ketchup etc... but she makes everything more healthy by using WHEAT flour, or Spaghetti Squash, or yummy soups that I've never even thought of making. The PLAN: I plan to eat healthy, and log my calories with MyFitnessPal. Every 10 lbs I lose I'll post a picture and tell about how everything is going. I've already lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks, so things are going well! The first 10 lbs I lose, my reward is that I get to buy a new pair of pants. 20 lb reward is that I get a pedicure or massage...whichever I feel like ;) 30 lbs I get to highlight my hair for the first time in 3ish years. 40 lbs I get to audition for a show. 50 lbs, I get to go to Disney World....which is actually already happening, but my father-in-law is going to pay a portion if I get to my goal weight! Woot woot. With your help, I can totally do it. Here is my before pic:
